Meredith Nevers (GLSC, Chesterton, Indiana) gave a presentation at the Indiana State Soil Board quarterly meeting held at the Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk, Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, on September 24, 2018. The Porter County Soil & Water Conservation District received a District Showcase Award as an outstanding district in the state, largely for the partnership they initiated with USGS, National Park Service (NPS), and US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Nevers spoke about USGS's role in the partnership and answered questions about water quality issues related to agriculture and how they impact Great Lakes water quality and ecosystems. Partners from NPS and USDA also spoke. Indiana Representative Mike Aylesworth and members of the State Board and Porter County District attended.
