Changing Drought Extremes as a Growing Stressor of Eco-Hydro-Socio-Systems: Strategic Opportunities & Challenges for Multi-Disciplinary USGS Research
Research Ecologist Craig D. Allen highlighted striking drought-induced landscape transitions from 38 years of research work in the Southwest U.S. to his colleagues at the USGS National Center in Reston, VA on March 7, 2019. His presentation illustrated the increasingly global emerging effects of hotter drought extremes on ecosystems, watersheds, and societies, and the associated opportunities for USGS research.
