Meredith Nevers (GLSC, Chesterton, Indiana) presented her research at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore’s Coastal Monitoring and Research Symposium on February 28, 2019. Nevers’s talk, "Assessing Cladophora Growth in Lakes Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario” included an overview and preliminary results of a Great Lakes-wide assessment of the factors leading to overgrowth of this alga; emphasis was on the impact of Cladophora at Sleeping Bear Dunes and its role in a host of management problems. Participants in the symposium, hosted by the National Park Service, included federal, state, and regional researchers, non-profit agencies, and citizen scientists.
