Patterson Invited as Keynote Speaker for Women in STEM Event

Encouraging Women to Enter Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs

Tammy Patterson (GLSC, Chesterton, Indiana) was a keynote speaker at the Valparaiso University Women in STEM dinner on April 3, 2019. The dinner brought together students from science majors to hear personal stories about being women in STEM professions. Tammy shared with the students her experience initially studying Karner blue butterfly in the field on a joint USGS-National Park Service project in 2010 to her current work in ecosystem services modeling and data management of wind farm wildlife fatality data and historic freshwater mussel data rescue work from her shared term position between USGS and US Fish and Wildlife Service.
