Closer view of lava falls in right image above. Lava temporarily piles up on beach but is washed aside by each wave. Elephant trunk records position of former falls; water quenched lava in falls, creating hollow casing. These features are seldom preserved more than a few minutes. Right image above shows small drip of lava emerging from the trunk (visible in large image). Height of active falls, 3 m.
