Detailed Description
Closer view of lava falls in right image above. Lava temporarily piles up on beach but is washed aside by each wave. Elephant trunk records position of former falls; water quenched lava in falls, creating hollow casing. These features are seldom preserved more than a few minutes. Right image above shows small drip of lava emerging from the trunk (visible in large image). Height of active falls, 3 m. 0544.
