Wings Across the Americas 2019 Conservation Award
Dr. Ralph Grundel (GLSC, Chesterton, Indiana), as part of the Migratory Dragonfly Partnership (MDP), traveled to Washington, DC, to receive a Wings Across the Americas 2019 Conservation Award by the US Forest Service International Programs and Environment for the Americas on April 23, 2019. The awards recognize the achievements of Forest Service employees and their partners in bird, bat, butterfly and dragonfly conservation. The MDP received the International Research Partnership Award for its work documenting the existence of a trinational (Canada-U.S.-Mexico) long-distance migration by dragonflies. The MDP combines research, citizen science, education, and outreach to better understand North America’s migrating dragonflies and promote conservation of the wetland habitat on which they rely.
