SAFRR participates in STEM Career Day for Girls
The American Association of University Women in Pasadena has been partnering with Pasadena City College, Pasadena Unified School District and various community organizations for over a decade on a Science Day for Middle School Girls. This year's workshops (April 11, 2015) were led by women working in different STEM-related professions who spoke informally with girls about their career paths in a roundtable format. SAFRR's Debbie Weiser presented background including how she became interested in earth science, how geology and natural hazards impact society, and how scientific research and advances can be found all around us. She engaged participants in a chat about the ways in which they see science in our society and some of the ways scientific advances have positively impacted their world.
