SAFRR Presents at Tohoku University Disaster Resilience Symposium

SAFRR's Dr. Lucy Jones was invited by the Leading Schools Program at Tohoku university to be part of a symposium on disaster resilience held as part of the commemoration of the 4th anniversary of the great east Japan earthquake during the week of March 9th-13th. Dr. Jones joined other lecturers from around the world, meeting with both the Disaster Science Program at Tohoku and others visiting Sendai for the UN Disaster Conference for a series of lectures and discussions on how to improve resilience. Dr. Jones was also invited to give a lecture on Friday, March 6th at the University of Tokyo Institute of Social Science to speak about the City of Los Angeles resilience project. She will be working with staff at the Institute of Social Science who are developing a research proposal for comparing disaster resilience in three communities: Sendai, Vancouver, and Los Angeles.
