Adaptive Management Framework to Test and Assess Emerging Sea Lamprey Control Tools

Dr. Nick Johnson (GLSC, Hammond Bay Biological Station) presented an overview of the Supplemental Sea Lamprey Control Initiative (SupCon). SupCon uses an adaptive management framework across many streams and years to test and assess emerging sea lamprey control tools that complement existing control tools (lampricides and barriers). Key outcomes of implementing an adaptive management framework include increased capacity for predicting the result of sea lamprey control strategies targeting larval or adult life stages and enhanced collaboration between sea lamprey control agents and representatives of local and regional fisheries governance institutions. SupCon is jointly funded by the Great Lakes Fishery Commission and Great Lakes Restoration Initiative as administered by the Great Lakes Fishery Commission.
