Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Produced water chemistry data collected from the Orcutt oil field, 2018, Santa Barbara County, California Produced water chemistry data collected from the Orcutt oil field, 2018, Santa Barbara County, California
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the California State Water Resources Control Board collected produced water and casing gas samples from oil wells and injectate stored in surficial tanks planned for underground injection in the Orcutt oil field in Santa Barbara County in 2018. Samples were collected from the Orcutt oil field on February 6th and February 7th, 2018...
Hydrogeologic data of the Russian River Watershed, Sonoma and Mendocino Counties, California (ver. 1.1, July 2023) Hydrogeologic data of the Russian River Watershed, Sonoma and Mendocino Counties, California (ver. 1.1, July 2023)
This data release contains digital data generated by the U.S. Geological Survey under cooperative agreements with Sonoma County Water Agency and the California State Water Resources Control Board to characterize the three-dimensional hydrogeology and water quality of the Russian River Watershed, located in the northern part of the California Coast Ranges section of the Pacific Border...
Geochemistry of surface sediment and sediment cores in Bellingham Bay, Whatcom County, Washington, in February 2020 Geochemistry of surface sediment and sediment cores in Bellingham Bay, Whatcom County, Washington, in February 2020
Geochemical data are reported for surface sediments and long sediment cores from Bellingham Bay, Whatcom County, Washington, collected in early February 2020 after flood conditions on the Nooksack River. Data include total organic carbon content (TOC), carbonate content (CaCO3), ratios of stable carbon 13/12 isotopes (d13C), ratios of total carbon to total nitrogen (C:N), short-lived...
sciencebasepy: A Python library for programmatic interaction with the USGS ScienceBase platform sciencebasepy: A Python library for programmatic interaction with the USGS ScienceBase platform
This Python module provides functionality for interacting with the USGS ScienceBase platform: https://www.sciencebase.gov/catalog/ ScienceBase is a Trusted Digital Repository (TDR) in the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The platform is developed and maintained by the USGS to provide shared, permission-controlled access to scientific data products and bureau resources. Rather than serving...
Fiber-optic distributed temperature sensing data collected for improved mapping and monitoring of contaminated groundwater discharges along the upper Quashnet River, Mashpee and Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA 2020 Fiber-optic distributed temperature sensing data collected for improved mapping and monitoring of contaminated groundwater discharges along the upper Quashnet River, Mashpee and Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA 2020
In summer in Massachusetts, USA, preferential groundwater discharge zones are often colder than adjacent streambed areas that do not have substantial discharge. Therefore, discharge zones can efficiently be identified and mapped over space using heat as a tracer. This data release contains fiber-optic distributed temperature sensing (FO-DTS) data collected along the streambed interface...
Water chemistry data for samples collected at groundwater sites in the Montebello Oil Field study area, September 2014–October 2018, Los Angeles County, California Water chemistry data for samples collected at groundwater sites in the Montebello Oil Field study area, September 2014–October 2018, Los Angeles County, California
The California State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) initiated the Regional Groundwater Monitoring Program (RMP) to assess effects of oil and gas development on groundwater designated for any beneficial use. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is the technical lead in conducting the RMP through the California Oil, Gas, and Groundwater (COGG) Program, working in...
