Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

ICP-MS measurements and R Code to determine provenance soil type from analyses of Pinus ponderosa ash collected in Arizona and Colorado ICP-MS measurements and R Code to determine provenance soil type from analyses of Pinus ponderosa ash collected in Arizona and Colorado
Needle samples from 140 Pinus ponderosa were analyzed for trace elements via inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Samples were collected from eight locations representing five distinct soil types across the Colorado Plateau near Flagstaff, Arizona and Boulder, Colorado. Data includes a full spectral scan between m/z 5-245 which was condensed to 72 dominant atomic masses
Supporting Datasets for Analyses of Sediment Transport and Channel Change in the Puyallup River Watershed (ver. 2.0, February 2026) Supporting Datasets for Analyses of Sediment Transport and Channel Change in the Puyallup River Watershed (ver. 2.0, February 2026)
The Puyallup River and it's major tributaries, including the Carbon and Mowich Rivers, are sediment-rich systems in western Washington State, USA, that flow from glaciated headwaters on Mount Rainier to Puget Sound over a short distance. In the populated Puget Lowlands, sediment deposition and associated loss of flood conveyance has been a chronic issue (Prych, 1988; Czuba and others...
Analysis of historic orthomosaic imagery collected through various agencies for mapping active channel and floodplain changes along a 22.5-km reach of the Green River at Gray Canyon near Green River, Utah from 1938-2021 Analysis of historic orthomosaic imagery collected through various agencies for mapping active channel and floodplain changes along a 22.5-km reach of the Green River at Gray Canyon near Green River, Utah from 1938-2021
The U.S. Geological Survey gathered historic aerial photography and remote sensing imagery from a variety of sources for mapping channel change along a 22.5-kilometer reach of the Green River at Gray Canyon near Green River, Utah. Imagery was downloaded in .TIF format and Structure-from-Motion (SfM) photogrammetry techniques were applied (Over et al. 2021) using Agisoft Metashape...

Chemical extraction data for oil and gas wastewater study samples from Blacktail Creek, North Dakota, and Wolf Creek, West Virginia Chemical extraction data for oil and gas wastewater study samples from Blacktail Creek, North Dakota, and Wolf Creek, West Virginia
Sediment samples from sites affected by environmental releases of wastewater from oil and gas production were examined to determine sorbed versus mineral structure associations of barium, radium, strontium, and other elements. Archive samples were used from work at Blacktail Creek, North Dakota and Wolf Creek, West Virginia. The Blacktail Creek samples are described in publications and...
Adaptive capacity of the Western ridged mussel (Gonidea angulata) in the western U.S. Adaptive capacity of the Western ridged mussel (Gonidea angulata) in the western U.S.
An assessment of the adaptive capacity of the Western ridged mussel (Gonidea angulata) that uses 37 factors, grouped by related characteristics: distribution, movement, evolutionary potential, ecological role, abiotic niche, life history, and demography. For each factor, species can be evaluated on a simple “low–moderate–high” scale, with criteria designed to accommodate either...
