The Fellowship fosters the international exchange of scientific ideas and supports lectures for the general public. As part of her Fellowship, Kellogg plans to compare U.S. deep-sea coral samples with those found on the Great Barrier Reef to better understand bacterial organisms on coral reefs. Kellogg will work with coral reef experts at James Cook University, the Australian Institute of Marine Science, and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies and will present lectures in Townsville, Brisbane, and Sydney.
