Feed conversion indices: Controversy or convention?

Various methods of calculating and reporting the efficiency of food use in fish husbandry are examined. The effects of moisture content of feed and fish flesh, supplemental feeds augmented with natural feed items, differences in energy content due to feed formulations, and the usefulness of the various feed efficiency indices to aquaculturists and fish husbandry researchers are discussed.
