Estuarine Prey Fish Biomass Model

August 19, 2026

This repository contains code to run the Estuarine Prey Fish Biomass model, using the biomass equation developed by Lorenz (2003).
This equation was used for modeling prey fish biomass in Romañach et al. 2011 using Java, and this release implements the model in R to facilitate further model development and collaboration with partners.
Some minor changes were made from the Java version to this R version.
A typo in the coefficient of the model's first term was corrected, and the depth threshold for prey concentration was changed to 12.5 cm from 13.1 cm.
Additionally, a cap of 365 days above the 12.5 cm depth threshold was applied to prevent the indefinite inflation of this variable over time and align with field data (J. Lorenz, written communication [2026]).
This script now exactly matches the equation in Lorenz (2003).
