MapMark4 Version Update (Version 1.1)
MapMark4 is a software package originally released by Ellefsen (2017) that implements the probability calculations in three-part mineral resource assessments (Singer and Menzie, 2010). The name is derived from the descriptive phrase “mineral assessment program mark4”—the name “mark4” is chosen because the previous, similar program was called “mark3”. Functions within the software package are written in the R statistical programming language. These functions and their documentation are bundled together in R’s unit of sharable code, which is called a “package.” MapMark4 provides the essential R functions to perform the probability calculations but does not provide a graphical user’s interface. A user’s guide for Version 1.0 can be accessed at https://doi.org/10.3133/tm7C14. This software release introduces MapMark4 Version 1.1. The updates are detailed by Rosera and others and include new functionality to construct probability density functions with correlated grade(s) and tonnage, new functionality to simulating using simple random sample (i.e., bootstrap), and minor bugs and documentation fixes.
