Software for computations for compositional data analysis
There exist at least two R packages for analysis of compositional data (Templ and others, 2023; van den Boogaart, 2024). Both packages have many functions for various types of analysis. Nonetheless, a package that performs just the computations for compositional data is needed for at least two reasons: First, such a basic package can be incorporated into other packages that perform statistical analysis of compositional data. Hence, the functions that perform these basic computations won't have to written again for each analysis package. Second, the package can include extensive checks to ensure that the functions perform as expected—implementing such extensive checks is relatively easy for functions that perform basic computations. To meets these needs, this R package was developed. One advantage of this package is that it uses just the data types that are available in R.
