Synthetic Checkpoint Generation Software
May 9, 2025
This software automatically generates synthetic elevation checkpoints suitable for assessing the vertical error on remotely-sensed topographic data such as Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), Digital Surface Models (DSMs), and point clouds. The software ingests a user-provided timeseries of DEMs, a road polyline dataset, and an impervious surface classification in order to place synthetic checkpoints on the flattest sections of paved roads. The user can manipulate a number of outlier detection and confidence filtering parameters in order to control the number and quality of generated synthetic elevation checkpoints.
