Alexander Walker

Alex is a hydrologic technician in the Southwest Montana Field Office.

Starting at a young age, Alex enjoyed exploring the creek in his backyard in Missouri, collecting fossils and cool rocks he found. At age 10, he got SCUBA certified. His first coral reef sighting was off the coast of Cozumel. Seeing all the fish and coral sparked a passion for marine conservation. His love for nature grew as he started taking geoscience classes in high school. He was fascinated by the ways natural systems interact.

Alex attended the University of Kansas and graduated with a B.S. in Geology. He has conducted field studies throughout Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas. On one of these field studies, he and a group of colleagues floated the entire Grand Canyon, exploring how the canyon formed and the time it took to form. He started a fellowship with the Coral Restoration Foundation working as a SCUBA coral restoration and reef rehabilitation specialist. He worked along the entire Florida Keys from Key largo to Key West. Alex has found a home with the Wyoming-Montana Water Science District working as a Hydrologic Technician.
