Christopher Macpherson
Chris Macpherson is a Hydrologist with the USGS New York Water Science Center who works on camera-based streamgaging and other advanced streamgage monitoring technologies.
Chris Macpherson has been with the USGS since 2013 and is a hydrologist in the New York Water Science Center’s Research to Operations group, which moves new monitoring methods from research into routine use. His work combines field hydrology with research and development in remote sensing, computer vision, instrumentation, and software development. Chris specializes in modernizing streamgage monitoring networks by building automated systems that integrate cameras, sensors, dataloggers, telemetry, and cloud computing for reliable data collection and operational workflows.
His professional interests include applied research and development, advancing non-contact streamflow measurement methods, and integrating emerging technologies into operational hydrology.
