David Ziolkowski Jr.
Dave is the Program Manager of the Genetic Material Repository at the USGS Eastern Ecological Science Center in Laurel, MD.
Dave has been actively involved in wildlife research for over 35 years, both in the U.S. and abroad, and has worked on myriad topics spanning the fields of ecology, evolutionary biology, biogeography, toxicology, and population monitoring. He leads development of the Genetic Materials Repository (GMR), encompassing strategic planning, scientific and technical program development, interagency coordination, project management, and partnership development to build national capacity for ecological genomics and environmental DNA applications. He is a recognized authority on birds and served for over 20 years as an ornithologist and leader of the continent-wide North American Breeding Bird Survey program, with broad expertise as a naturalist in the diversity and ecology of plants, insects, and other organisms.
