I am a Research Ecologist at the USGS Forest and Rangeland Ecosystem Science Center. My research focuses on how changing disturbances – such as climate variability, wildfire, species invasions, and grazing – shape species interactions, community dynamics, and ecosystem structure and function. My work has spanned a range of ecosystems, with a focus on dryland and montane systems in the western U.S.
My current projects include investigating the trends, drivers, and consequences of changing wildfire activity across the United States, and ecosystem trajectories following wildfire fuel treatments. Past/ongoing projects include disturbance impacts on plants and wildlife in sagebrush and pinyon juniper woodlands and interactive effects of climate and grazing on montane meadow plant communities and carbon storage.
