Minerals Information commodity specialists collect and analyze information on production, trade, and consumption of minerals from raw material through refining to finished products. Mineral commodity specialists can answer questions on these aspects of a mineral commodity.
I began my career with the U.S. Geological Survey after earning an Associate of Arts degree from Prince George’s Community College. Initially hired as a GS-3, I focused on coal quality topics within the Energy Resources Team. Over the years, I have gained diverse experience in various roles, including geochemist, lab technician, mineralogist, presentation specialist, webmaster, and tool pusher on a drill rig. To further develop my expertise, I participated in coursework and programs at several institutions, including George Mason University, James Madison University, Lehigh University, the University of Kentucky, the University of Maryland, and West Virginia University. In 2024, I joined the Minerals Information Team. Throughout my career, I have worked with a diverse array of industrial minerals, including cement, clays, construction sand and gravel, crushed stone, dimension stone, industrial sand and gravel, kyanite, lime, mica, potash, and vermiculite.
