Mary Beth Powell

Mary Beth works in the Office of Policy and Analysis as the Agreements Review System (ARS) Administrator. 


Mary Beth came to the USGS from the Army Corps of Engineers, Transatlantic Division in Winchester, VA, where she held the position of Management Analyst and Internal Controls Administrator. From 1989-2001, Mary Beth was employed by USGS as a Computer Scientist. Mary Beth holds a BA degree in mathematics and computer science from SUNY College at Brockport. Mary Beth is located at the National Center in Room 3B404.

Her primary duties include providing support in implementing the provisions of the Federal Technology Transfer Act and other United States laws pertaining to technology transfer and patents. She will assist with policy reviews of agreements between the agency and non-government entities. She will be the primary contact for the Agreement Review System, which is used to record the OPA review and approval of TT agreements, non-standard agreements and related actions.

Mary Beth's personal interests include geology, astronomy, history, canoeing, nature walks, folk music, and she plays guitar and sings at her local church. Mary Beth was raised in Brockport, New York, the youngest of five children. Her father was an Earth Science Teacher, and her mother was a Bookkeeper. She is married with three grown daughters and lives near Winchester, VA.
