Seren Bagcilar
I am a Biologist with the USGS Forest and Rangeland Ecosystem Science Center (FRESC). My research focuses on how global change, fire, and management interact to impact ecosystem carbon dynamics across landscapes.
My background is in biogeochemistry, ecosystem ecology, and fire ecology. As a USGS Biologist, I have gotten to pursue these research topics in varied dryland ecosystems across the West. One of my favorite aspects of this work is the ability to collaborate and communicate with land managers who are actively seeking solutions to complex ecological challenges.
I earned my PhD from the University of Nevada, Reno, where I studied how changing fire regimes and restoration impact soil biogeochemistry in Sierra Nevada forests and meadows.
