The USGS leads the effort through collaboration with Chesapeake Partners to monitor land change that can be used to assess the impacts land conversion on water quality, healthy watersheds, and communities
The USGS works with partners to develop and finalize methods to assess impervious change and conversion of farm and forest to development. USGS and partners will work to use the land-change model forecasts to identify vulnerable healthy watersheds and protected lands.
- Finalaize new land classifications for the Chesapeake Bay watershed model,
- Apply land-use change forecasts to inform decision making for TMDI, and
- Help explain water-quality change
