The Pathfinding Partnerships Award from CO-LABS recognizes impactful, collaborative research projects organized by four or more research entities, including federal labs, in Colorado. This year, the Wildfire Research (WiRē) team received this award for their support of evidence-based community wildfire education to help communities live with wildfire.FORT scientist James Meldrum will be presenting and participating as a science advisor during the first in-person meeting of the WiRē Partner Community of Practice in Denver, Colorado, on Oct. 24-26, 2023. The meeting will convene practitioners and scientists from 19 organizations, including local (fire protection districts), state (Colorado and Alaska), and federal (USGS, BLM, USFS) agencies and regional non-profits, for in-depth discussions around the co-production of actionable social science for supporting wildfire risk mitigation on private property.Living with Wildfire: The Wildfire Research Team adds new USGS-led collaborator report to their series on projects informing community wildfire risk mitigation Living with Wildfire: The Wildfire Research Team adds new USGS-led collaborator report to their series on projects informing community wildfire risk mitigation
James Meldrum is lead author on a collaborator report published by the USDA Forest Service covering work with the City of Santa Fe Fire Department and other partners, seeking to understand and promote property-level wildfire risk mitigation in Santa Fe communities. The report describes the results of a systematic data collection process in 2021 and insights for partners' programs and outreach.FORT Researcher Featured in USFS Rocky Mountain Research Station's "Science You Can Use" Bulletin FORT Researcher Featured in USFS Rocky Mountain Research Station's "Science You Can Use" Bulletin
