Bureau of Land Management Recreational Visitor Data Program Review
The Bureau of Land Management Recreation and Visitor Services Program regularly conducts recreational visitor satisfaction surveys. The USGS Social and Economic Analysis Branch is assessing the visitor survey effort and recommending updates to the current effort.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Recreation and Visitor Services Program began conducting recreational visitor satisfaction surveys in 2002 to quantitatively document achievement of program objectives in compliance with the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA). The Social and Economic Branch at the Fort Collins Science Center is working with the BLM-National Operations Center to assess and update the nineteen year old visitor survey effort.
USGS scientists are working to recommend updates to realign the annual survey effort with BLM Recreation and Visitor Services Program information needs and objectives while also satisfying annual GPRA reporting requirements. Along with recommendations, USGS will provide a survey strategy, design, and related materials necessary for implementation.
