Headwater Ecosystems

Human development and climate variability are negatively impacting ecologically unique and once pristine headwater streams.  Changes to flow and thermal regimes as well as increased sedimentation and invasive species can be particularly troublesome.  Researchers at the Leetown Science Center are particularly interested in the impacts of these stressors on native brook trout and macroinvertebrate communities.
