Water Resource planning requires a source of reliable, relevant, easily accessible data. Multiple NJDEP agencies are involved with regulation and data collection with regard to the State's water resources. These programs include land use, water quality, water supply, and wildlife. The USGS NJ WSC has been asked to update the NJWaTr database structure to accommodate new data requirements and to facilitate linkage to other data and applications (e.g., GIS). Additionally, the USGS NJ WSC has been asked to assemble, quality-check, and prepare specific datasets for appending to the NJWaTr database. These include water-use withdrawals data and wastewater discharge data.

STUDY OBJECTIVES:

There are two main objectives in this project.
1. The USGS NJ WSC has been asked to update the NJWaTr database structure to accommodate new data requirements and to facilitate linkage to other data and applications (e.g., GIS). A functional change to the existing data- loading application was also requested - to allow adding or updating records without a full reload. The database changes will be reflected in updates to the standard NJWaTr data import Template definition, all related NJWaTr applications (e.g., the data loader, data-warehouse creator), and all associated documentation.
2. The USGS NJ WSC has been asked to assemble, quality-check, and prepare specific datasets for appending to the NJWaTr database. These include water-use withdrawals data and wasterwater discharge data. The USGS will document the source data, devise quality assurance and data conversion procedures for the data, summarize and resolve any data- quality issues, and process final QA’d data into standard import tables for loading into the NJWaTr database
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM:

STRATEGY AND APPROACH:
- Update the NJWaTr database and supporting applications, structures, and documentation
- Document the NJWaTr data system update and uses of the data in a SIR.
- Assemble and document datasets as requested by NJGS.
- Develop QA strategy and perform QA on data.
