Data on environmental DNA detection of Medionidus simpsonianus in the Ochlockonee River (June 2021/December 2022)
August 20, 2026
Data are associated with detection of Medionidus simpsonianus in the Ochlockonee River using tactile surveys and a newly developed single-species environmental DNA (eDNA) assay tested on water samples. Data include a NADH dehydrogenase subunit 1 alignment that was used to develop primer and probe components and test target species specificity in situ, sample data from field collection and laboratory processing, and droplet digital Polymerase Chain Reaction (ddPCR) results for field samples, controls, and experiments of spin column purification effects on eDNA yield and PCR inhibitor removal. We also provide all known Medionidus simpsonianus occurrence records as of September 2023.
