Data to improve the understanding of groundwater quantity and quality contributions to Lake Huron
This dataset was compiled and analyzed to support the goals of quantifying groundwater contributions to Lake Huron and exploring the impacts of groundwater on Lake Huron processes in accordance with the Lake Huron Cooperative Science and Monitoring Initiative 2022 field season. This data release contains three child items that describe 1) the characterization of the Lake Huron Basin into hydrogeologic zones by hydrologic unit code 8 (HUC-8), 2) the calculation of a water budget for each hydrogeologic zone in order to quantify the direct and indirect groundwater discharge to Lake Huron, and 3) the investigation of potential groundwater quality concerns in the Lake Huron Basin with regard to nitrate and chloride. See each child item for more information.
