Data for the January 7, 2025 Mw 7.1 Tingri Earthquake in the southern Tibetan Plateau

This data release contains the 3-dimensional (3D) displacement rasters, digital elevation models (DEMs), surface rupture traces, secondary ground deformation, pre-existing fault-related lineaments, and mapped rupture summary from analysis of WorldView imagery ((C)Vantor 2025) spanning the January 7th, 2025 Mw7.1 Tingri Earthquake. The files are associated with two publications (Hanagan et al., 2026; Thompson Jobe et al., 2026):

Each file is described below with field names, if applicable.
 
DisplacementMaps.zip:
 
Contains the east-west, north-south, and up-down displacements as georeferenced geotiffs in UTM zone 45N coordinates, relative to the WGS84 ellipsoid (EPSG:32645). All rasters have been downsampled to 1-m resolution as described in the associated publication (Hanagan et al., 2026). All displacements are in meters, with east, north and up as positive values. Nodata values have been set to -9999. 
 
DEMs.zip:

Contains the pre- and post-earthquake DEMs as georeferenced geotiffs in UTM zone 45N coordinates, relative to the WGS84 ellipsoid (EPSG:32645) for each stereoimage pair from WorldView satellite imagery at 0.5-m resolution. The pre- and post- DEMs are further divided into a western, central overlapping, and eastern region, with the naming convention DEM{Pre/Post}{E/W/Olap}-cropped.tif. All elevation values are in meters. Image, processing details, and expected accuracy are described in the main publication (Hanagan et al., 2026). Nodata values have been set to -9999. 

Lineaments.zip:
 
Contains the shapefile with pre-existing fault-related features mapped in the vicinity of the 2025 Mw 7.1 Tingri earthquake. Remote mapping was completed using the 8-m High Mountain Asia digital elevation model (Shean et al., 2016) and the pre-earthquake 0.5-m digital elevation models within DEMs.zip.  Shapefile is in WGS84 coordinate system. Mapping is further described in the associated publication (Thompson Jobe et al., 2026).

SurfaceRupture.zip:
 
Contains the surface rupture linework for the 2025 Mw 7.1 Tingri earthquake, mapped from 0.3-0.6m WorldView satellite imagery and derivative post-earthquake digital elevation model. Shapefile is in WGS84 coordinate system. Mapping is further described in the associated publication (Thompson Jobe et al., 2026).

GroundDeformation.zip
 
Contains the ground deformation linework for the 2025 Mw 7.1 Tingri earthquake, mapped from 0.3-0.6m WorldView satellite imagery and derivative post-earthquake digital elevation model. Shapefile is in WGS84 coordinate system. Mapping is further described in the associated publication (Thompson Jobe et al., 2026).

RuptureSummary.zip:
 
Contains a summary of the surface rupture character and surficial deposits from the 2025 Mw 7.1 Tingri earthquake, as mapped from 0.3-0.6m WorldView satellite imagery and derivative post-earthquake digital elevation model. Shapefile is in WGS84 coordinate system. The classification style is further described in the associated publication (Thompson Jobe et al., 2026).
 
Field name descriptions for “RuptureSummary.shp”:
 
distance: distance along simplified surface rupture trace, in 250-m long increments from north to south
zone: surface rupture zone, defined by varying character, beginning with zone A in the north and ending with zone H in the south. Refer to accompanying text for details on zone definitions.
SurfDep: surficial deposit along the 250-m length of the rupture. Options include talus (or talus-covered bedrock), glacial deposits (including large boulders), fine glacial deposits (glacial outwash and glacio-lacustrine), older alluvial fans, younger alluvial fans, and lacustrine
RupChar: surface rupture character along the 250-m length of the rupture. Options include diffuse, single-narrow, single-wide, graben, distributed, and discontinuous
FZ_Width: the width of the fault zone, in meters, defined by the horizontal distance between surface rupture traces observed in the satellite imagery along the 250-m length of the rupture
NumStrands: number of strands of surface rupture traces along the 250-m length of the rupture
PreFault: coincidence of pre-existing fault-related features and surface rupture along the 250-m length of the rupture. Options include yes or no.
