Digital Datasets Documenting Surface Fault Rupture and Ground Deformation Features Produced by the Ridgecrest M6.4 and M7.1 Earthquake Sequence of July 4 and 5, 2019
July 13, 2020
This product is a collection of digital data that document fault rupture and ground-deformation features produced by the Ridgecrest M6.4 and M7.1 earthquake sequence of July 4 and 5, 2019. These datasets are described and more fully discussed in Ponti and others (2020) (see External Resources Section below for the full reference). Included in this collection are: GIS Shapefile and KMZ file of field-verified fault rupture and ground deformation features from direct field mapping, or interpreted from ground observations, airborne and satellite optical imagery, digital surface models derived from lidar and structure-from-motion optical image analysis, sub-pixel correlation of multi-temporal optical imagery, and phase gradient maps from coseismic radar interferograms; Comma-separated text and KMZ files of field observations at sites of fault rupture and ground deformation where quantitative displacement measurements were obtained. As discussed in Ponti and others (2020), this data release will be updated as additional data products become available. Anticipated future releases will include: updated observations at sites where quantataive displacement measurements were obtained, including ground photographs of described features additional qualitative ground deformation observations, including associated photographs sites where no ground deformation was observed updated rupture and ground deformation mapping.

Documentation of Surface Fault Rupture and Ground‐Deformation Features Produced by the 4 and 5 July 2019 Mw 6.4 and Mw 7.1 Ridgecrest Earthquake Sequence
The MwMw 6.4 and MwMw 7.1 Ridgecrest earthquake sequence occurred on 4 and 5 July 2019 within the eastern California shear zone of southern California. Both events produced extensive surface faulting and ground deformation within Indian Wells Valley and Searles Valley. In the weeks following the earthquakes, more than six dozen scientists from government, academia, and the private sector...
