Effects of restoration treatments at the piñon-juniper/ponderosa pine in northern New Mexico

January 8, 2026

This dataset includes multiple data types from long-term monitoring and research on Rowe Mesa, NM, including data on surface fuels, ground cover, overstory tree metrics, regeneration, and tree-ring widths before and after burning and thinning treatments from 2005-2024. This data release includes 8 CSV files: DBH_DSH_conversion_data.csv (data used to create a regression of tree diameters taken at different heights), 1000_hr.csv (coarse surface fuel loads), fine_fuels.csv (fine surface fuel loads), ground_cover.csv (percent coverage of multiple ground cover classes), plot_info.csv (general information about each surveyed plot, including burn severity and thinning status), plot_trees.csv (overstory tree data), tree_regen.csv (tree seedling data), and treering_data_release.csv (treering width index and associated data). The dataset includes data on three tree species: Juniperus scopulorum (Rocky Mountain juniper), Pinus edulis (Colorado pinyon pine), and Pinus ponderosa (ponderosa pine).
