Environmental DNA (eDNA) monitoring of invasive bigheaded carp (Hypophthalmichthys spp.) before and after the 2018 mass removal effort at Creve Coeur Lake, St. Louis County, Missouri
Data describe environmental DNA (eDNA) concentrations from invasive silver (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) and bighead carp (H. nobilis), collectively called bigheaded carps (Hypophthalmichthys spp.), from Missouri’s Creve Coeur Lake and Mallard Lake before and after a mass carp removal effort in 2018 at Creve Coeur Lake (2018-01-29). Six sampling trips occurred from 2017-2018, with 3 trips (2017-10-23, 2017-11-28, 2018-01-29) prior to the mass carp removal from Creve Coeur Lake and the remaining 3 trips occurring afterwards (2018-03-21, 2018-04-19, 2018-09-25). The 2018-01-29 trip occurred immediately prior to the carp removal. Parameters include locations of collected water samples that were tested to estimate concentrations of bigheaded carp DNA, qPCR results and associated quality assurance measurements.
