Guam, Invertebrate presence in brown treesnake toxic baiting in Swiftlet caves, 2025
The data included in this data release were collected to estimate non-target take in toxic baiting stations around two caves within Naval Base Guam where Mariana swiftlet (Aerodramus bartschi) nest. In the field, camera traps were set up to monitor occurrence of bait take at stations from March to June 2025. Images were manually transcribed, and invertebrate and brown treesnake (Boiga irregularis, BTS) presence and occurrences of bait take were recorded. We also collected data on snake presence and whether ants were present at the time. Additionally, we compiled spatial covariates to evaluate how spatial heterogeneity affects observed bait take patterns. These pieces are broken into three datasets included in this release: 1) bait take camera transcription, 2) snake presence, and 3) spatial factors.
