Low-altitude aerial imagery and photogrammetry products from unmanned aerial systems (UAS) flight after the 2018 flood over historic Ellicott City, Maryland
Digital imagery was obtained by Elevated Media Concepts LLC from small unmanned aerial systems (UAS), over Historic Ellicott City on June 18, 2018 after major flooding events. The imagery was collected to document and monitor effects of flooding, including property damage and erosion in Ellicott City, Maryland. A DJI Inspire 2 quadcopter with camera model FC6520 and a DJI Mavic Pro quadcopter with camera model FC220 were the UAS used to capture these images. Some photographs contain black and white targets used as ground control points (GCPs), which were surveyed by a field crew with a high-precision Real Time Kinematic Global Position System. This data release includes images tagged with locations determined from the UAS GPS and a CSV file with the positions of temporary targets in Maryland State Plane referenced to the North American Datum of 1983 as well as a digital surface model (DSM), an orthomosaic image, an elevation point cloud, and a processing report to provide additional information on the structure from motion (SfM) workflow used to produce the photogrammetry products.
