Pellet Transects in Glacier National Park, 2020-2022
October 19, 2026
Pellet transects were conducted from 2020 to 2022 at grassland sites where vegetation surveys were conducted by Glacier National Park biologists. The field work consisted of counting wildlife fecal pellets along transects to learn more about elk use and possible wildlife effects on vegetation. This information provides a baseline to evaluate changes in elk distributions after bison reintroduction planned by the Blackfeet Nation.
