Salinity and Temperature Data for South Florida Estuarine Mollusks (1994-present)

March 12, 2025
The Salinity and Temperature Data for South Florida Estuarine Mollusks (1994-present) database contains salinity and temperature readings from modern monitoring sites where live mollusks were observed during fieldwork performed from 1994 to present, salinity and temperature summary statistical data for each species, and location information about the sites where the monitoring data were collected. Data are available for modern sites located in Everglades National Park (Florida Bay and the southwest Florida coastal mangrove estuaries), and Biscayne Bay (including Biscayne National Park). In the dataset, both the Salinity Occurrence Data sheet and the Temperature Occurrence Data sheet display the mean salinity or temperature measured at a site visit where live mollusks were observed and/or collected. For each species, these salinity and temperature observations are used to produce the summary statistics on the Summary sheets. Taxa are categorized as CONFID or FULL using confidence values calculated at the 95% confidence level. Any taxon with at least 10 observations and a confidence value ≤ 5.0 is CONFID, meaning that we are confident our data are representative of the population’s salinity and temperature ranges in our study area. The remaining taxa with less than 10 observations or a confidence value greater than 5.0 are categorized as FULL.
