Salt Tracer and Passive Seismic Horizontal to Vertical Spectral Ratio Data from Nanticoke Creek, Pennsylvania (2024-2025)
This data release contains near-surface geophysical and hydrological datasets collected along a historic coal-mining impacted reach of Nanticoke Creek near Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, which is completely dry at its terminus during baseflow conditions. The release includes specific conductance data from a series of sodium chloride tracer slug injection experiments conducted on June 11, 2025. These time-series datasets capture tracer breakthrough curves across sequential measurement locations within subdivided upper and lower channel sections, separated by a large plunge pool, to characterize reach-scale streamflow and quantify losses and gains. Additionally, the release serves passive seismic horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratio (HVSR) data, providing estimates of unconsolidated sediment thickness for 14 locations where ambient vibration processing criteria were met.
