Sediment core data collected from five restored marshes in the San Francisco Bay Estuary, CA, 2023-2025

The U.S. Geological Survey Western Ecological Research Center (WERC) and Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center (PCMSC) collected cores in five restored tidal marshes in San Francisco Bay Estuary. The restored marsh sites included: Bahia Marsh, Tubbs Island Setback, Grays Marsh, and Pond A6. This data release includes photographs, computed tomography (CT) scans, Cesium-137 activity, particle size distributions, and carbon content data. Details on core location, elevation are included in sections for each data type. These data were collected to evaluate spatial variation in elevation building, and sedimentation post-restoration, and can be used to assess the status of each tidal marsh. Data were collected as part of a collaborative study with the USGS Western Ecological Research Center. These data are intended for science researchers, students, policy makers, and the general public.
