Underwater Audio Data Collected in the Upper Colorado River, Colorado, 2021-24
April 14, 2026
This data release contains audio data collected from 2021 to 2024, expanding on the dataset collected for a 2019 U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) study which tested the use of hydrophones to detect bedload mobilization and identify a streamflow threshold at which bedload began to mobilize in the Upper Colorado River (Kohn and others, 2020).
Child item "Stationary Hydrophone Data collected in the Upper Colorado River, Colorado, 2021-24" contains audio files collected by underwater microphones (hydrophones) deployed in the Colorado River during the spring and summers of 2021-24. Data collection was supported by the Next Generation Water Observing Systems (NGWOS) program.
