Cleaning sampling equipment in preparation for PFAS sampling
Detailed Description
USGS Hydrologic Technicians, Hillary Abraham and Victor Cortez, from the USGS Pennsylvania Water Science Center Williamsport and New Cumberland field offices (respectively) collect blanks for PFAS from freshly decontaminated equipment. By testing the effectiveness of equipment cleaning prior to sampling for PFAS, the USGS, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, and the Susquehanna River Basin Commission can verify that the sampling equipment used won’t contaminate samples at the parts per trillion concentrations possible in the environment.
