Debris flow track from Hurricane Helene
Detailed Description
The view is looking south down a debris flow track from Hurricane Helene and across the Blue Ridge. The runout length of the slide was 0.75 mile and the scarp was in steep colluvium near the fault contact between the Ashe Metamorphic Suite and Mesoproterozoic gneisses. The beautiful Fall day belies the some of the dangers from landslides in the Blue Ridge.
