Photo and Video Chronology — Webcam upgrades on the Southwest Rift Zone of Mauna Loa
On April 24, HVO staff installed a new webcam and upgraded an existing webcam on the Southwest Rift Zone of Mauna Loa.
HVO staff installed a new webcam, the MDLcam, to monitor the Southwest Rift Zone of Mauna Loa. It is one of several pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) models installed over the past several years to monitor Mauna Loa. The view of PTZ cameras can be controlled remotely; they're capable of panning horizontally (from left to right), tilting vertically (up and down), and zooming (for magnification). The existing M3cam on the Southwest Rift Zone of Mauna Loa was also upgraded to a higher-resolution model.
