iRIC (International River Interface Cooperative) was started in 2007 by Professor Yasuyuki Shimizu (Hokkaido University) and Dr. Jonathan Nelson (USGS) with the purpose of (1) developing a software platform called iRIC for numerical simulation of flow and morphodynamics in rivers and (2) providing seminars and educational material to support that software.
The iRIC software is a river flow and riverbed variation analysis software package which combines the functionality of MD_SWMS (Multi-Dimensional Surface-Water Modeling System, developed by the USGS) and RIC-Nays (developed by the Foundation of Hokkaido River Disaster Prevention Research Center).
iRIC software, documentation, and training information is currently hosted at the iRIC Project website.
