USGS Native Bee Inventory and Monitoring Lab

USGS Native Bee Inventory and Monitoring Lab (BIML) supports the inventory, monitoring, and natural history of the wild bees of the nation in collaboration with federal, state, academic, non-profit, citizen and international groups.

BIML develops and evaluates survey techniques, creates inventory and monitoring programs, reviews such programs for our partners; creates and manages comprehensive identification guides, keys, and tools for the wild bees of North America (Eastern States are complete, Midwest being developed; and provides a hi-resolution catalog of over 4500 photographs of bees, other insects, and plants.  

 We work with our partners to provide specimen processing, databasing, and identification of bees for their projects.
