Survey Area for 2021-2022 Aircraft Survey in Nevada

Detailed Description

Map showing the area where an aircraft will be making low-level flights beginning around November 1, 2021 and continuing into summer 2022.

This survey is designed to remotely study the western Great Basin as part of an ongoing USGS and Department of Interior program to better understand the geology, hydrology and natural resources of the region.

The survey will cover an area of approximately 20,000 square miles and include portions of Inyo and Mono Counties, California and Churchill, Esmeralda, Eureka, Humboldt, Mineral, Lander, Lyon, Nye, Pershing, Storey and Washoe Counties, Nevada. The survey layout follows a grid pattern consisting of tightly spaced lines (200-400 meters apart).
