TM22-03 Alkalinity samples analyzed at the Analytical Trace Element Chemistry and Common Services Laboratory (USGSTECO)

Detailed Description

On 17 May 2022, the National Water Quality Laboratory (NWQL) began shipping samples to the Analytical Trace Element Chemistry and Common Services Laboratory (also known as the USGS-NRP Trace Element Research Lab, USGSTECO, in the National Water Information System) in Boulder, CO for analysis of alkalinity by fixed endpoint (lab code 2109; parameter code 29801) and acid neutralizing capacity (ANC) by fixed endpoint (lab code 70; parameter code 90410) while the instrumentation at the NWQL is undergoing troubleshooting and repair. Beginning 25 July 2022, alkalinity by inflection point (IPT) (lab code 8007; parameter code 39087) and (lab code 8011; parameter code 00408) samples were also analyzed at the USGSTECO laboratory in Boulder. If samples arrive for acid neutralizing capacity (ANC), low level (lab code 8430; parameter code 90410) they will also be analyzed at the USGSTECO laboratory in Boulder. There will be no additional cost for these analyses while the NWQL is remedying the issues with their instrumentation. See notes below regarding fixed endpoint and inflection point methodology.
